Skilled caregivers are the heart of an effective treatment foster care program. Our original Parenting Skills Training was the first preservice curriculum developed specifically for therapeutic caregivers.
A complete revision of the curriculum was published in 2009, after three years of intensive focus. This new nine-session, 27 hour preservice package balances caregiver self-awareness with skills to promote trauma recovery and child behavior change.
The new PST is approved in Virginia for Title IV-E Reimbursement at 75%. This represents a significant cost savings to programs looking to adopt a quality TFC parent training program. Please see our News Page for details.

The New PST includes content typically mandated by states for foster care generally, while adding a competency-based TFC emphasis on relationship, trauma, attachment and the neurology of healing. The curriculum is evidence-linked, establishing a solid foundation for a variety of evidence-based interventions at the program level.
