UPDATE – After being postponed last week because of the weather it looks like the weather is once again not cooperating, so we are canceling the parade at this time.
Join us as we come together with The Foster Care and Adoption Awareness Coalition (FCAAC) for our annual Bluebird Parade to raise awareness about local children currently in the Virginia Foster Care system and the need for local foster families!
This event is open to anyone in the community who is interested in showing support! Come out and join us!
The parade has historically taken place on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall during the First Friday in May, and we are excited to be back to an in-person event for the first time since 2019!
Each year in April, we ask the community to donate bluebird works of art, one to represent each child in foster care. Artists, families, children, and organizations create an amazing array of inspiring bluebirds. And in May, all the artworks flock together for the Bluebird Parade for Foster Children.
For the parade, participants should bring their bluebirds on a stick to easily ‘fly’ with them down the parade route. Our goal is 200+ bluebirds – one Bluebird-Art-On-A-Stick for each foster child in our community!
