People Places Pre-Service Training is the next step in becoming a certified foster parent. The process begins with an information meeting followed by 6 virtual training sessions. Throughout the training, you’ll learn about the foster care system, the impact of trauma on children, and practical strategies to help children feel safe, supported, and valued in your home.

About our foster parent training course
What: A virtual, workshop-style training where you work closely with our trainers and a small group of other prospective foster families. Through guided discussion, interactive learning, and practical examples, you will build the skills needed to support children who have experienced trauma and family separation. Participants also complete short assignments and video learning between sessions.
When: Training begins with an Information Meeting, followed by six weekly evening sessions lasting approximately 1–2 hours each. Sessions are held on weekday evenings beginning at 5:30 PM or 6:00 PM.
Where: All sessions are held virtually. Training requirements include attending each session, viewing assigned videos, and completing brief homework assignments.
